Wow, first Maryland and then Michigan! Is it a plot to visit every state that starts with an “M”? (I don’t know, but rumor has it we may be in Minnesota next month…)

Actually, we were in Michigan for Dana, as she was a speaker at a Literature conference (and Pete just went along for the ride, and for moral support.) Her talk was well received, and besides a few problems with the GPS in the rental car, it was good trip.

So that was May… and now we’re looking forward to June, which just happens to be Birthday month (for both of us) and anniversary month too!

We went to Maryland in March. Really. Dana was there for 5 days, and I was there for 2…

Here’s some proof:

Atomic Books, a Maryland Landmark!
(Thanks to Jim Romenesko for the suggestion)

OK, just some random wall, but I swear it was in Baltimore…

We drove out to West Middlesex, PA for the wedding of Jessica and Nate, and besides spending 8+ hours driving on Friday, and Sunday, we had a good time. On Saturday, Dana and I drove out to the lake she grew up on, some of it she recognized, as it hadn’t changed in many years, and other things looked new, or were forgotten long ago.

It was also good to see family again, and Emma and Maddy definitely had a blast hanging out with Shelby.

We’re hoping to get out to Maryland this Summer, but we’ll see how things go.

Oh yeah, if you are looking for the Papa John’s Pizza in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, it’s located inside the Walmart.

Today is the day! I don’t expect everything to be perfect, but I will settle for almost perfect. If the weather can hold out, if I can get through the day without forgetting anything, if everyone does what they are supposed to do… it’ll all be fine. And at the end of it all, Dana and I will be married. Pretty damn cool. :)

If you’re a friend of ours that can’t make it, we thank you for your support. If you can make it, we’ll see you tonight!

We had a nice Valentine’s day. Actually, we waited until the weekend and went out for a nice dinner at Point Comfort Place in Okauchee. We really didn’t give each other expensive gifts, as we are saving up for the wedding, but Dana gave me the best valentine I’ve ever received, so it was quite the memorable night…

Wow, can things change on a dime…

We are now pretty much decided on Old World Wisconsin in Eagle. It’s a bit of a drive from Milwaukee (about 45 minutes) but the setting is absolutely beautiful and simple–very natural. If you haven’t been there, I suggest going to check it out. They are having an “Old World” Wedding in October; but, you can check out all the upcoming events on their website.

And, on to the food and beverages (that’s the only reason you all are coming, right?). We hope to have Saz’s cater the event. We’re planning on three choices for a buffet-style meal, with plenty of options for you veggies out there.

Libations will be unlimited wine, beer and soda. Sorry, you lushes: no liquor! We want all of you to be safe and since it is going to be a late evening wedding not close to your homes, we felt that limiting the amount you all drink would be a good idea…But, if you want to sneak a flask in, who’s going to stop you? Just get a designated driver…

Keep checking our site here and we’ll keep updating the info as soon as it becomes available!
We can’t wait to see you all June 22 (ish), 2007!!!

Many of you have been asking how the wedding plans are going. So, to all those family and friends who are interested in the dilly (or, is it dealy?), here you are:

Pete and I are simple folk, as many of you know, and we are trying to keep the nuptial celebrations simple, too. We are looking into having the ceremony and the reception at a natural locale and have both fallen in love with the Retzer Nature Center, home of the shy litt’l turtle in Pete’s last post. We have to wait until October 2nd, though, to reserve it since that’s the date that the park service starts taking reservations for next summer. If anyone has any other suggestions, preferably for a location near water, please let us know!

In a few weeks, I’ll be posting the “songlist thus far” for you all to peruse and give suggestions. Although we are simple folk, we still wanna rock out that day and plan on dj-ing ourselves, or having a friend control the tunes. Either way, music will definitely be a part of the big day, as it has been a big part of our courtship.
